Smriti Mandhana

India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana has jumped to second place in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings after her superb performance in the Sri Lanka Women’s Tri-Series final.

Smriti Mandhana Century Powers Ranking Climb

Mandhana smashed 116 runs from just 101 balls in the final against Sri Lanka, helping India secure a 23-run victory. She also scored a half-century earlier against South Africa in the group stage. These performances have lifted her to 727 rating points, just 11 points behind top-ranked Laura Wolvaardt.

Jemimah and Deepti Shine Too

Mandhana wasn’t the only Indian batter to climb the rankings.

  • Jemimah Rodrigues moved up five spots to 15th after scoring a career-best 123 runs against South Africa.
  • Deepti Sharma rose 13 spots to joint-32nd after her impressive 93-run knock in the same game.

Sri Lanka’s Batters Make Gains

Despite losing the final, Sri Lanka had some positives:

  • Captain Chamari Athapaththu climbed two places to joint seventh.
  • Youngster Vishmi Gunaratne jumped eight slots to 63rd.
  • Anushka Sanjeewani made the biggest leap, going up 19 places to 75th.

South Africa’s Mixed Fortunes

South Africa didn’t have the best results as a team, but some individual players stood out:

  • Chloe Tryon jumped nine spots to 18th after scoring 67 and 74 in the tournament. She’s now just seven points away from her career-best 601 rating points.
  • Tryon also took a hat-trick against Sri Lanka, which helped her climb 14 spots to 50th in the bowling rankings and move up to 11th in the all-rounders’ list.

Other notable South African moves:

  • Tazmin Brits: now joint 32nd.
  • Annerie Dercksen: up to 50th.
  • Nadine De Klerk: ranked 54th among batters.
    • De Klerk also rose to 24th in bowling and 12th in all-rounders.
    • Dercksen jumped 19 spots to 44th in the all-rounders’ category.

Bowling Rankings: Steady at the Top

There’s no change in the top 20 of the ICC Women’s ODI Bowling Rankings, but some players still made moves:

  • India’s Sneh Rana reached a career-best joint-34th after climbing four spots.
  • Sri Lanka’s Sugandika Kumari also rose four places to 37th.
