Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently congratulated Meta on the release of its new large language models, Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Pichai shared his excitement, writing, “Never a dull day in the AI world! Congrats to the Llama 4 team, Onwards!” His message emphasizes the collaborative yet competitive nature of the AI industry.
Overview of Llama 4 Models
Meta’s Llama 4 is a powerful multimodal Artificial Intelligence system. It is designed to handle different types of data, such as text, video, images, and audio, and allows seamless conversion between these formats. According to The Economic Times, Llama 4 models are now considered Meta’s most advanced AI models yet, surpassing previous Llama generations.
These models are now integrated into Meta’s AI-powered assistant, which works across platforms like WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram in 40 countries.
Meta’s Plans for Future Developments
Meta is also working on a new model, Llama 4 Behemoth. This “teacher model” aims to further improve the capabilities of the Llama 4 models. Although Llama 4 Behemoth is still being trained, Meta claims it will outperform leading models such as GPT-4.5, Claude Sonnet 3.7, and Gemini 2.0 Pro, particularly in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) areas, with better performance in benchmarks like MATH-500 and GPQA Diamond.
Upcoming Event: LlamaCon
Meta has also announced LlamaCon, an exclusive event set for April 29, 2025. At this event, Meta will provide a detailed look at the potential of the Llama models and their future impact on AI innovation.
