The remand hearing has begun today regarding the Suryadarshan Cooperative case in Pokhara, Kaski. According to Registrar Rajan Khanal of the Kaski District Court, the hearing has commenced on the case involving Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane and others.
He stated that arguments for all seven individuals, including Rabi Lamichhane, whose case was registered, were concluded on Tuesday. The first day of the remand hearing has been completed. Following the conclusion of today’s hearing, those arrested, including Rabi, were sent back to custody.
Statements have been recorded from Rabi, along with former Gorkha Media Network operator Chhabilal Joshi, GB partner Lila Pachaain, Nature Herbs operator Ram Bahadur Khanal, former parliamentarian Meena Gurung, former treasurer Arati Gurung, and former director Lalit Bahadur Gurung.
The Kaski District Attorney’s Office had filed a case against 44 individuals, including RSP President Lamichhane, on charges of embezzlement of cooperative funds.
Lamichhane faces charges of cooperative fraud as well as organized crime and money laundering.
The District Attorney’s Office reported that, to date, a case has been filed against 63 individuals at the Kaski District Court in connection with the Surya Darshan Cooperative embezzlement case. Among them, charges of organized crime have been filed against 19 individuals, including Lamichhane.
Additionally, charges of money laundering have also been filed against Lamichhane, Khanal, Joshi, and Pachaain, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
