Tesla Enters Nepal

Tesla’s Grand Entry into Nepal with 40% Price Reduction and Robust Aftersales Support

Tesla has officially made its debut in the Nepali market, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape. Tesla Nepal Pvt. Ltd., the newly appointed authorized distributor, has partnered with Tesla Inc. to bring the revolutionary EV brand to Nepal, complete with an extensive network of showrooms, service centers, and charging stations.

After four years of negotiations, Tesla Nepal has secured distribution rights through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Tesla’s headquarters in Texas, USA. Surendra Koirala, CEO of Tesla Nepal, revealed that the agreement ensures compliance with Tesla’s Standard Operating Procedures for Experience Centers, Service Centers, and Charging Networks.

Tesla Nepal has also forged functional agreements with Tesla’s regional offices in Singapore and Hong Kong to monitor customer service, after-sales support, and infrastructure development.

40% Price Reduction

The official dealership status significantly reduces the prices of Tesla EVs in Nepal, slashing costs by 40%. This move is expected to make Tesla vehicles more accessible to Nepali consumers, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.

Tesla Nepal has begun the process of opening Letters of Credit (LC) to import an initial batch of 50 Tesla models, which are anticipated to arrive by the end of February 2025. Simultaneously, Tesla Nepal is constructing its first showroom in Baluwatar, Kathmandu, with a second showroom under development in Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur.

In addition, a state-of-the-art service center is being set up on a three-ropani land area in Ekantakuna. This facility will feature five Tesla Superchargers, providing efficient and reliable charging options for Tesla owners.

Expansion Plans

Tesla Nepal plans to expand its network to key cities, including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Butwal, Biratnagar, and Jhapa, within the next decade. This ambitious expansion aligns with Tesla’s global mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

While Tesla EVs have been available in Nepal since 2020 through unofficial channels, the lack of authorized distributors posed challenges for buyers, especially regarding aftersales service and warranty claims. With Tesla Nepal now in the picture, customers can expect a seamless and standardized ownership experience.

Tesla’s official entry into Nepal heralds a new era for the country’s EV market, offering cutting-edge technology, competitive pricing, and comprehensive aftersales support. This development not only benefits Nepali consumers but also reinforces Nepal’s commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.
