Russian Journalist Killed in Drone Attack

A Russian war correspondent was killed in a drone attack in Ukraine’s Donetsk region on Saturday.

Four other journalists were injured in the attack, according to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

The attack occurred when a drone struck the car carrying Russian journalists on the Donetsk-Horlivka highway, leading to the death of Alexander Martemyanov, a stringer for the Russian newspaper Izvestia.

“We were returning to Donetsk after documenting the aftermath of the shelling in Horlivka when the drone hit our car on the highway,” said RIA Novosti reporter Maxim Romanenko.

Denis Pushilin, the head of the Donetsk region, said on Telegram that all injured journalists are receiving medical treatment.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that there would be a “proper response” to the attack on Russian journalists in due course.
