Netflix has dropped the first track from its highly anticipated romantic comedy series The Royals, and it’s already creating buzz. The song is a fresh take on the evergreen Bollywood hit Tu Tu Hai Wahi, reimagined by celebrated singers Jubin Nautiyal and Jonita Gandhi.
The accompanying music video showcases lead stars Ishaan Khatter and Bhumi Pednekar grooving at a vibrant party. Their characters cross paths during the lively celebration, setting the stage for a story full of sparks, chemistry, and unexpected romance.
A teaser for The Royals was first revealed earlier this year as part of Netflix’s 2025 content lineup. More recently, a newly released poster has caught attention for the undeniable chemistry between Khatter and Pednekar, featuring them in an intimate, eye-catching moment.
The streaming giant has confirmed that The Royals will premiere on May 9, 2025, exclusively on Netflix. The announcement was paired with a playful caption:
“A ziddi rajkumar meets a girlboss aamkumari. Royal mess, ya shahi love story? Watch The Royals, out 9 May, only on Netflix.”
Set against the luxurious yet chaotic backdrop of palace life, The Royals promises a charming rom-com experience, blending old-world royalty with modern-day ambition. The series explores the clashing worlds of a stubborn prince and a self-made queen in the making, delivering laughs, drama, and heartwarming moments.
Speaking about the project, creators Rangita and Ishita Pritish Nandy shared in an official statement,
“The Royals, being our very first with Netflix, had to be the perfect mix of coming-of-age India, Gen Z storytelling, and feisty fun! There’s the allure of fading royalty and the relentless hustle of today’s startup heroes—for whom crowns mean nothing.”
The show is helmed by directors Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, with Neha Veena Sharma as the head writer. Alongside Ishaan Khatter and Bhumi Pednekar, the ensemble cast includes Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Milind Soman, Dino Morea, Chunky Panday, Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Sumukhi Suresh, Udit Arora, Lisa Mishra, and Luke Kenny.
Adding to the excitement, The Royals also marks the return of legendary actress Zeenat Aman, making her much-awaited comeback to the screen.
With its fusion of glitz, royalty, and Gen Z energy, The Royals is shaping up to be one of the year’s most entertaining and talked-about releases.
