Three arrested for running drug smuggling from rented rooms

Police have arrested three people for allegedly illegal drug smuggling from rented rooms in the Kathmandu Valley. The arrest was made by a team from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) based in Koteshwor.

The suspects include 32-year-old Niku Rai from Belbari Municipality-3 in Morang, along with Kunga Tamang and Padam Bahadur Mehta. According to NCB spokesperson and SP Janak Bahadur Shahi, the trio had rented separate rooms, apart from where they lived, to secretly store and sell illegal drugs.

From a rented room near Balaju Gangahal, police seized 35,590 capsules of Tramadol and 12.5 kilograms of marijuana hidden by Niku Rai. In another room rented by Kunga and Padam, authorities found 31,101 ampoules of injectable drugs, including Buprenorphine, Diazepam, and Phenergan.
