Weather in Nepal

The monsoon is getting stronger, and many areas in western Nepal are experiencing rainfall.

Currently, rain is falling in districts from Gandaki Province moving westward. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has requested everyone to stay alert as the weather system is moving north.

Light to moderate rain, along with thunder and lightning, is happening in some areas of Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces, and in a few places of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

Moderate to heavy rain has been reported in areas like Dadeldhura, Nuwakot, Lamjung, Syangja, and around Bardiya. The department has again asked the public to be cautious as the rain system shifts northward.

According to the Department, Dadeldhura’s Parsuram Municipality (Jyamirkhali) recorded 40.8 mm of rain in just one hour. Similarly, 29.6 mm of rain fell in Dhakeri, Banke, and 23 mm in Betrawati (Nuwakot) and Syangja.

This year’s monsoon entered Nepal on Jestha 15 and is gradually spreading west. By Jestha 29, it had reached up to Lumbini Province.
