U.S. President Donald Trump has temporarily stopped his order to ban TikTok. This means that TikTok will continue to work in the U.S. for now.
There are 170 million TikTok users in the U.S. After taking office, Trump issued an executive order to give TikTok temporary relief, according to BBC.
A few hours later on Sunday, TikTok announced on social media that its service would continue. It also said it would work with President Trump to keep the app running in the U.S.
A U.S. federal court had told TikTok to sell its shares in its parent company, ByteDance, by January 19. Because of this, TikTok stopped working on most phones in the U.S. on Sunday, before the government’s ban could take effect.
