Unsolved Truths and Unhealed Wounds: Nine Puzzles Premieres May 21

The countdown has begun for one of the year’s most anticipated dramas. Nine Puzzles, a gripping psychological thriller, is officially set to premiere on May 21, sending waves of anticipation through drama enthusiasts everywhere. To mark the announcement, a haunting black-and-white poster was released—offering a stark, artistic preview of the emotional and psychological depths the series is ready to explore.

Starring acclaimed actors Kim Da Mi and Son Suk Ku, Nine Puzzles promises a tightly wound narrative of suspense, trauma, and the pursuit of long-buried truths. At its core lies a cold case that has haunted the protagonists for a decade—and is about to be torn open once again.

Kim Da Mi plays Yoon Yi Na, a brilliant and intuitive criminal profiler whose calm precision masks a deeply traumatic past. Her life took a devastating turn ten years earlier when her beloved uncle, the man who raised her, was found murdered. Though she was the sole witness, she wasn’t treated as a victim—instead, she found herself under suspicion, especially from Detective Kim Han Saem, portrayed by Son Suk Ku.

Once the lead investigator on the case, Han Saem was convinced Yi Na knew more than she let on. His suspicion cast a long, painful shadow over her life, fracturing any possibility of closure. Now, years later, fate throws them back into each other’s lives.

Yi Na, now a top profiler with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, is brought in to work a new serial murder case. As chilling echoes of the past begin to resurface, including a mysterious puzzle piece left behind at a crime scene, old wounds are reopened. What begins as a professional partnership becomes a tense and emotional journey as they revisit the unresolved case that first bound them—and tore them apart.

Son Suk Ku’s portrayal of Han Saem adds depth to a character driven not only by duty, but also by regret and a relentless search for justice. Together, Yi Na and Han Saem must confront not only a dangerous killer, but also the secrets they’ve kept from each other—and from themselves.

As their investigation unfolds, it becomes clear that the past isn’t done with them. And what they uncover may not only change what they thought they knew—it might also cost them everything.
