Vijay to Quit Acting After 69th Film for Politics

Vijay, one of the leading stars of Kollywood, has confirmed that he plans to leave acting for a career in politics. At the first-anniversary meeting of his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu, he made it clear that his 69th film, Jana Nayagan, will be his final project in the film industry. According to a report by The Times of India, Vijay stated that he intends to quit acting after completing the movie, directed by H Vinoth.

While many fans and industry professionals hoped that Vijay might continue acting even after entering politics, he clarified his position, dispelling any doubts. He explained that his primary focus will now be on politics, specifically working toward the welfare of the people, and that Jana Nayagan would mark the conclusion of his acting career.

In February of the previous year, Vijay founded the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and announced his intention to contest in the 2026 elections. His first political conference was held in October, where he shared his political vision. Meanwhile, Jana Nayagan, which is expected to be his final film, has already generated buzz. The first look of the film, released in January, features Vijay in an intense role, wielding a whip, which has led to comparisons with the late actor-politician MG Ramachandran, who was also the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The film, produced by KVN Production, also stars Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Bobby Deol, and Gautham Vasudev Menon. There have been rumors that it might be a remake of the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, but confirmation is still awaited.
