Repair work on the Nepal-India international border pillars has started in Jhapa. According to the decision of the Nepal-India Boundary Working Group, Nepal is responsible for repairing odd-numbered border pillars, said Superintendent of Armed Police Force, Kabindra Rai, from Armed Police Force No. 2 Battalion, Jhapa.
The maintenance work began at a small border pillar numbered 95/12 in Sisuwadangi, Mechinagar Municipality-15.
In Jhapa, 107 border pillars along the 144.2 km stretch of the Nepal-India border will be repaired.
The repair work is being conducted with the presence of the Armed Police Force, the District Administration Office, the Survey Department, local representatives, the Indian Border Security Force (SSB), and residents.
Since 2014, odd-numbered border pillars have been maintained by Nepal’s Armed Police Force, while even-numbered ones are handled by the Indian Border Security Force, as per the agreement. This joint maintenance work has been ongoing since last year.
