In an intense Martyrs Memorial B Division League match held at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato, Annapurna Club, also known as RCT, and Birgunj United played out a 1-1 draw. This result confirmed RCT’s relegation, ending their stay in the A Division as they will compete in the B Division League next season.
RCT took the lead shortly after halftime when Pradip Gurung scored in the 48th minute. However, Birgunj United fought back, with Sanjay Chaudhary leveling the score in the 58th minute. Neither side managed to find a winner, and the match ended in a draw.
After 12 games, RCT has 15 points, which was not enough to avoid relegation, despite their impressive history as six-time A Division League champions. Birgunj United, meanwhile, sits fifth with 17 points from 12 matches.
Following this result, Tusal Youth Club has also been relegated alongside New Basti Youth Club, which was already confirmed earlier.
RCT’s relegation marks the end of an era for the club, but they will now focus on returning stronger from the B Division next season.
