Bollywood’s highly anticipated action-packed sequel War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, is making headlines again — and this time, not for its teaser or star cast, but for a massive business deal struck ahead of its release.
War 2 theatrical rights sold for ₹80 crore in Telugu market
According to Gulte, the Telugu theatrical rights of War 2 have been sold for a whopping ₹80 crore. The deal was locked with Sithara Entertainments, headed by producer Naga Vamsi. Initially, YRF had plans to release the film in Telugu-speaking regions by themselves, but considering Jr NTR’s tremendous fan following in those areas, they chose to partner with a local distributor instead.
Makers were expecting ₹100 crore initially
Reports suggest that the makers first pitched the rights at ₹100 crore, but the final deal closed at ₹80 crore. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Sithara Entertainment has bet big on Jr NTR. They also bought the Telugu rights for his upcoming film Devara, co-starring Janhvi Kapoor, for ₹120 crore.
Teaser launched on Jr NTR’s birthday
War 2 is a sequel to the 2019 hit War and is also part of the YRF Spy Universe. The teaser of the film was launched on May 20 as a birthday surprise for Jr NTR fans. Alongside the teaser, character posters of Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani were also revealed, building up excitement among fans.
Release date confirmed for Independence Day weekend
Yash Raj Films has officially announced that War 2 will hit the big screens on August 14, 2025, right before India’s Independence Day. With high-octane action scenes expected between Hrithik and Jr NTR, fans are counting down the days.
