In a surprising turn of events, CID’s legendary character ACP Pradyuman, played by Shivaji Satam, was killed off in the latest episode. The episode, aired on Saturday night on Sony TV and streamed on SonyLIV, showed the iconic officer dying in a bomb blast set off by the villain Barboza, portrayed by filmmaker-actor Tigmanshu Dhulia.
Sony TV Confirms the End
Shortly after the episode aired, Sony TV posted a tribute on social media with a photo of ACP Pradyuman and the words:
“End of an era. ACP Pradyuman (1998–2025)”
The caption read: “In the loving memory of ACP Pradyuman… A loss that will never be forgotten.”
Fans React with Shock and Anger
Viewers flooded the comment section with emotional messages. Many fans expressed sadness and frustration over the decision to end the character so suddenly. One heartbroken fan wrote:
“Sorry, it’s not RIP to ACP Pradyuman. It’s RIP to CID. And RIP to Sony TV… You destroyed the emotions of millions. ACP sir lives on in our hearts forever.”
Another emotional fan added:
“Why would you do this, Sony? He was more than a character — he was strength, justice, and nostalgia. You could’ve given him a peaceful retirement. Instead, you broke millions of hearts in one episode.”
Some even pointed out the irony in his long career on the show. One humorous comment said:
“For 27 years, he never got a promotion. He started and ended as an ACP — despite solving almost every case in 1 or 2 episodes. This shows the toxic work culture in CID!”
Shivaji Satam Speaks Out
Talking to Bombay Times, actor Shivaji Satam said he’s currently on a break and hasn’t been officially informed if his character’s journey has ended.
“I’ve learnt to take everything in my stride. Whether my track is over or not, only the makers know. As of now, I’m not shooting for the show.”
CID’s Long Legacy
CID first aired in 1998 and quickly became one of India’s most-loved detective shows. It ran until 2018 and was recently revived in December 2024. With close to 1600 episodes, it remains the longest-running fiction series on Indian television.
The End of an Era
For fans, ACP Pradyuman wasn’t just a TV character — he was a symbol of justice and nostalgia. His iconic one-liners and powerful presence defined CID. And now, with his unexpected death, it truly feels like the end of an era.
