Foreign Minister Arzu Rana has urged Indian investors to expand their investments in Nepal. Highlighting that India is the largest source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Nepal, she emphasized the need for further growth in investments.
Speaking at the “Nepal-India Economic Summit” jointly organized by Kathmandu University and India’s NITI Aayog in New Delhi on Friday, Minister Rana stated that Nepal now enjoys political stability and an improved investment-friendly environment, making it an opportune time for investors to increase their engagement.
“Nepal has adopted liberal policies to attract foreign investment,” she said. “I encourage Indian entrepreneurs to invest in sectors such as energy production, infrastructure development, agriculture, tourism, and information technology. Investments in Nepal are secure and promise high returns.”
Investor-Friendly Policies
The minister noted that Nepal has received a “B-minus” rating for foreign investment and has implemented policies to encourage both domestic and international investors. “I invite private sector investors to explore opportunities in Nepal,” she added.
Strengthening Nepal-India Relations
Minister Rana stressed the importance of strengthening Nepal-India relations, not just economically but also socially and culturally. She called for the partnership to serve as a model for regional cooperation in South Asia.
Nepal remains committed to fostering a robust and mutually beneficial relationship with India, aiming to enhance trade, investment, and regional collaboration.
