Binod Basnet, former chairman of the Jhapa Gold Cup and a young entrepreneur from Birtamode, was found dead at his residence. According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, Basnet was discovered hanging at his own home located in Birtamode Municipality–1.
Actively involved in social service, business, and institutional leadership, Basnet was associated with several organizations. He was the former chairman of the Jhapa Gold Cup Organizing Committee, former National Executive Vice President of Nepal Jaycees, and also a past president of both Birta Jaycees and Rotary Club of Birtamode.
Basnet was also a member of the executive committee of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Province 1, General Secretary of Mechi Petroleum Dealers Association, co-coordinator of the ‘Ek Ka Lagi Ek’ (One for One) campaign, president of Samaj Jhapa, and proprietor of various business enterprises including Sayapatri Trade Link.
The death of 40-year-old Binod Basnet is currently under further investigation, according to police.
