Clash at Ghorahi School

A clash broke out at Shubhaprabhat Secondary School in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City-14, Naya Bazar, over the formation of the school management committee. During the conflict, Principal Rudra Budha was also assaulted.

The dispute occurred during a meeting called for the third time on Wednesday to form the committee. Principal Budha stated that he was attacked after refusing to finalize the committee’s formation due to an insufficient quorum.

The first meeting had 128 parents, and the second had 48, but the required quorum of 186 was not met. Hence, a third meeting was called, where only 123 parents attended—still below the required 51% quorum.

“I was beaten when I said the committee could not be formed without a quorum,” Budha said. “When I suggested holding another meeting, some people insisted on forming the committee immediately and attacked me.”

According to Budha, disputes over the committee’s formation are common, and the previous committee was also formed only after five meetings.

He accused Ward No. 14 Chairman Bhansi Budha and his associates of being involved in the assault. However, Chairman Budha denied the allegation, saying he attended the meeting as an invitee but was not involved in any violent activities. He claimed that the clash occurred among parents and that he was being falsely accused to tarnish his reputation.

District Police Spokesperson DSP Chakra Bahadur Shah confirmed that the incident took place but said no official complaints had been filed yet.

“The clash happened, and two members of the CPN (Maoist) party were injured. They have been treated and discharged,” he said. “The principal is safe, and we are investigating the incident.”
