An elderly man has died in an elephant attack in Thakurbaba Municipality Ward No. 2 of Bardiya.
According to the police, the elephant, which came out of Bardiya National Park on Wednesday night, attacked near the victim’s field.
District Police Office Bardiya’s Information Officer and DSP Rishiram Ghartimagar informed that 71-year-old local Baliram Tharu died in the attack.
His house is located near Bardiya National Park. Following the attack, locals became enraged and blocked the East-West Highway in protest against the increasing wildlife attacks, said Thakurbaba Municipality-2 Ward Chairman Kamal Chapai.
