Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal, the Vice President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been assigned the role of acting president.
Aryal assumed the position following an order from the High Court, which led to the arrest of party president Rabi Lamichhane on Friday night.
Lamichhane’s decision to appoint Aryal as acting president was endorsed during a virtual meeting of the party’s central secretariat held on Friday night.
Previously, Aryal had also taken on the role of acting president when Lamichhane was in custody. Just a few days ago, Rabi had returned to the party’s executive leadership.
Lamichhane, who is facing accusations of organized cooperative fraud, was ordered into judicial custody by the Butwal bench of the Tulsipur High Court on Friday. He was arrested at around 9 PM the same night.
Rabi, who was arrested from his own room, is scheduled to be flown to Rupandehi today.
