Shiv Sena Nepal Chief Anil Basnet Remanded for 2 More Days Over Tinkune Violence

A two-day extension has been granted for the custody of Anil Basnet, the president of Shivsena Nepal, who was arrested for alleged involvement in the violent pro-monarchist movement in the Tinkune incident.

According to SP Apil Raj Bohara, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, Basnet was arrested on Sunday from Sukedhara and has been remanded for two additional days. The 47-year-old, also known as Anil Baba, is a resident of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-3 in Morang district. The court approved the remand extension after aligning with the required procedures.

He is being investigated on charges of criminal unrest. Authorities stated that if other offenses are uncovered during the investigation, those charges will also be included.

Police have alleged his involvement in the arson and vandalism that occurred in the Tinkune area on 15 Chaitra.
