The fire at the herbal production and processing company located in Koteshwor has still not been brought under control.
According to the company’s Managing Director, Sangita Yadav, the fire occurred in the main building of the office. In the adjoining building, ‘Sancho’ is produced.
Since the store contains flammable materials, Yadav mentioned that if a fire breaks out there, it could lead to a massive explosion.
“There are 25 tons of oil in that building. If the fire spreads, the entire herbal sector could be destroyed,” Yadav told The Ritible. “No efforts have been made to extinguish the fire so far.”
Protesters led by Durga Prasai have burned half a dozen vehicles parked in the area. “We were inside the office working when suddenly stones started being thrown from outside,” Yadav said. “When they began breaking the windows of the building, we escaped through the back route to save our lives.”
