Google is now making its AI Mode feature available to more users in the US through Google Labs. This feature was earlier limited to Google One AI Premium subscribers. After receiving positive feedback, Google has started a wider rollout along with a big new update—multimodal search.
What Is Multimodal Search and How Does It Work?
The new multimodal search lets users upload or take a photo, then ask a question about that image. Google‘s advanced AI, called Gemini, combined with Google Lens, provides a smart and detailed answer. It also includes helpful links so users can learn more if they want.
It’s More Than Just Visual Search
Unlike traditional visual searches that only find similar images, this new feature understands much more. It looks at the image’s full context—such as object relationships, textures, colors, shapes, and layout—to give deeper insights. It even uses a special technique called “query fan-out,” which runs multiple searches at once to deliver the best answer.
Smarter and More Useful Search Results
Google says the updated AI Mode offers more accurate and useful responses. It helps users better understand what they’re looking at and gives them the tools to make smarter decisions based on that information.
