Continuous rainfall on Sunday night caused a major road collapse near Dhungagade Bhanjyang in Gorkha’s Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-7, halting all two-way traffic.
Local ward chair Sharan Shrestha stated that last year’s partial road damage was never fully repaired, making the route more vulnerable this monsoon. Now, due to heavy rain, even small and four-wheeler vehicles can’t pass.
This is the main access road into Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality, and its closure has left travelers and locals facing serious hardship.
Motorcyclists and pedestrians are being forced to navigate the damaged road at their own risk. Reconstruction efforts had just begun on Saturday but were immediately delayed by the ongoing rain.
