“Nothing Left After This”— Is Aamir Khan’s Dream Project ‘Mahabharat’ the Final Film of His Career

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is all set to return to the big screen after a long break. His new film “Sitaare Zameen Par”—the spiritual sequel to his 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par—will soon hit theatres. This time, Aamir will be seen playing a basketball coach, and he has already begun promoting the film.

Mahabharat Is Aamir Khan’s Dream Project

Recently, Aamir appeared on Raj Shamani’s podcast, where he spoke about his personal life and film career. When asked what kind of film he would like to make if it were his last, Aamir opened up about his long-cherished dream: to make Mahabharat.

He confirmed that once Sitaare Zameen Par is released, he will begin working on Mahabharat. Aamir described it as a massive project, saying,

“Maybe after Mahabharat, I won’t be able to make anything else. It’s that grand, with so many layers and emotions. Everything that exists in the world can be found in Mahabharat.”

Will Mahabharat Be His Final Film?

While he hinted at Mahabharat being the ultimate film of his career, Aamir also said that he wants to keep working until his last breath.
He added,

“I want to work for the rest of my life. But Mahabharat might be the one project after which I feel I have nothing more to say.”

Interestingly, Aamir isn’t the only one with a Mahabharat dream. SS Rajamouli, the acclaimed Telugu director, has also spoken about his desire to bring the epic to the big screen.

Race to Biopic: Aamir vs. Rajamouli

Alongside Mahabharat, there’s another cinematic race taking shape. According to reports, Rajamouli is planning a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema, and wants to cast Jr. NTR in the lead.

However, Aamir Khan too has shown interest in the same subject. He has reportedly completed in-depth research for the biopic and is considering making it with Rajkumar Hirani.

Two Legends. Same Dreams. One Big Question.

With both Aamir Khan and SS Rajamouli eyeing Mahabharat and Dadasaheb Phalke’s biopic, it will be fascinating to see whose vision audiences connect with more. Whether it’s mythology or history, Indian cinema is about to witness two of its biggest storytellers take on monumental stories.
