KIIT University has issued an official apology following the tragic death of Prakirti Lamsal, a third-year B.Tech student from Nepal, who was found dead in her hostel on Sunday evening. While the exact cause of her death is still under investigation, early reports suggest it might have been a case of suicide.

In the wake of this incident, Odisha police arrested Advik Srivastava, who is reported to be Lamsal’s ex-boyfriend. Local media reports indicate that Srivastava had been harassing Lamsal prior to her death.

Alongside this, two staff members at the university were accused of mistreating Nepali students, and the university responded by firing both employees involved. KIIT University has expressed its regret over the situation and has assured that it will take all necessary actions to prevent similar incidents in the future, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all students.
