The relatives of those who died in a road accident staged a protest in Manahari Rural Municipality along the East-West Highway in Makawanpur.
Locals blocked the road in anger after the death of a van driver in a collision between a bus and a magic van in Lothar, Manahari Rural Municipality-6, on Friday morning.
The protesters demanded an investigation into the incident and immediate settlement of compensation. Police and the administration are trying to clear the road.
A bus (Ba Pra 03006 Kha 5681) coming from Chitwan towards Hetauda and a magic van (Ba Pra 03001 Cha 3012) heading towards Lothar Bazaar from Manahari collided with each other.
The accident resulted in the death of 32-year-old Sandesh Koirala from Raksirang Rural Municipality-4, who was driving the van. According to the Manahari Area Police Office, Koirala, who was injured in the collision, died on the way while being taken to Chitwan for treatment.
The van had only the driver inside. Both vehicles were moving at high speed. Police have taken the bus driver into custody.
