A jeep accident in Katari Municipality-6, Somabare, Udayapur, along the Madan Bhandari Highway, has claimed the life of a legal officer.
The person who died was a 55-year-old Madhab Basnet, a legal officer with the Judicial Committee of Damak Municipality in Jhapa. According to the District Police Office in Udayapur, he died while receiving treatment at Katari Hospital.
The Scorpio jeep (number plate Me 1 Cha 3040) was heading from Chitwan to Jhapa when it met with an accident on Thursday evening.
Six other people were injured in the crash. They were taken to Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment. Hospital sources say their condition is stable.
