A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar on Friday, causing significant destruction. However, Nepali-speaking communities in the affected regions, including Mogok and Mandalay, are reported to be safe, according to local sources.
While no harm has been reported among Nepalis, the earthquake has caused damage to public properties, including schools and Hindu temples. The full extent of the destruction is expected to be known by the evening.
The tremors were also felt in neighboring countries, including Thailand, where a seven-story bank building sustained damage. The complete casualty report is yet to be confirmed.
