Guddu Dhanoa Talks Industry Realities, Refuses to Discuss Diljit Dosanjh

Filmmaker Guddu Dhanoa, known for his iconic films like Deewana and Salaakhen, gave Diljit Dosanjh his first major break with the film The Lion of Punjab. However, in a recent interview with Friday Talkies, Dhanoa declined to discuss the actor-singer.

When asked about Diljit, Dhanoa responded, “Let’s talk about positive, real, and good people.” He then took subtle jabs at individuals who undergo a transformation after attaining fame, referencing his own experience with singer Sunidhi Chauhan. Dhanoa recalled how, during the shooting of Bichhoo, he was amazed by a young Sunidhi’s performance of the song Ek Vari Tak Le. He remembered her touching his feet out of respect, but expressed disappointment over how people tend to forget such moments. Dhanoa shared that despite calling her recently, she neither responded nor returned his call.

Despite this, Dhanoa emphasized that not everyone in the industry is like this. He highlighted actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, Akshay Kumar, and Sunny Deol as examples of genuinely warm and positive personalities.

The Lion of Punjab was a turning point in Diljit Dosanjh’s career, marking his debut as a lead actor in mainstream Punjabi cinema. It was also Guddu Dhanoa’s first Punjabi film as a director. The movie, which was a remake of the 2003 Tamil film Dhool, starred Jividha Sharma, Pooja Tandon, and Gurpreet Ghuggi. Despite the film’s failure at the box office, its soundtrack, Lak 28 Kudi Da, became a huge hit.
