Opposition parties have decided to reject the ordinances introduced by the government. This decision was made during a joint meeting of opposition parties held on Thursday at the parliamentary party office of the main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Centre).
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Chief Whip of the Maoist Centre, Hit Raj Pandey, stated that the government had introduced the ordinances through improper methods and procedures, leading to their rejection.
“The way the government has brought the ordinance just before summoning the House is procedurally incorrect. Moreover, one of the ordinances concerns the Financial Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility Act, which the government claims needed to be expedited through an ordinance. However, it was already under discussion in the parliamentary Finance Committee. If it had been discussed and passed through the committee, it would have been even faster. The government bypassed this process and introduced an ordinance instead,” he explained.
He further added, “Procedurally, the claim of expediting it is flawed. Therefore, a unanimous decision has been made to reject it.”
He stated that in the parliamentary session starting on Friday, opposition parties would collectively raise issues related to the ordinances and matters of public concern.
Accusing the government of having ill intentions behind introducing the ordinances, he also warned that if necessary, they would take to the streets in protest against the government.
