With the pre-monsoon already underway, Nepal’s disaster management authority has projected that around 2 million citizens across 450,000 households could be affected by natural disasters during this year’s monsoon season.
This estimate comes from the proposed “National Monsoon Preparedness and Response Action Plan 2082”, developed by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) in coordination with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The plan includes monthly monitoring, evaluation, and review of disaster conditions.

- All seven provinces are expected to face some degree of impact.
- Responsibilities have been assigned from the central to local levels for better preparedness.
- The plan will be tabled on Jestha 14 in a meeting chaired by the Home Minister for final approval and execution.
