With a touch of humor, he remarked that Rupali was blamed for everything, even the country’s economic and social issues. “She becomes an easy target,” he explained, adding, “In fame, you sometimes have to pay a price.”

Regarding Paras Kalnawat’s surprising exit from Anupamaa—the actor who played Samar and had hinted at challenges working with Rupali—Rajan took a diplomatic stance. “A lot of water has passed under the bridge. He’s still young,” Shahi commented. He further reflected on the nature of the entertainment industry, saying there are no permanent friends or enemies, and that many things said in the heat of the moment shouldn’t be taken too seriously. He even suggested that Paras and Rupali might reconcile in the future.
The sudden departure of Gaurav Khanna, who portrayed Anuj Kapadia, the male lead, also fueled speculation about friction with Rupali Ganguly. However, in an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, Gaurav dismissed such rumors, explaining that no one playing his role would quit midway over personal issues.
