Controversial religious leader Acharya Srinivasa has joined the pro-monarchy protest. He has arrived at Tinkune, where a corner meeting is set to take place.
Acharya Srinivasa was previously arrested for making controversial statements. He was also detained on charges of pelting stones at the police.
Meanwhile, a scuffle broke out between the police and the pro-monarchy group when they attempted to move towards New Baneshwor from Tinkune.
Tensions flared between the two sides a short while ago, while police continue to urge protesters to demonstrate peacefully using loudspeakers.
Currently, pro-monarchy supporters are arriving in Tinkune from various routes
