RSP Slams Police for Arresting Rabi Lamichhane Without Warrant, Vows Legal Battle

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has stated that the police attempted to arrest party president Rabi Lamichhane without an arrest warrant.

According to the RSP, following an order from the High Court, a police team arrived at Lamichhane’s residence on Friday night and wrote the arrest warrant inside his bedroom, which the party described as an unusual practice.

After Lamichhane’s arrest, the Central Secretariat of the party held a virtual meeting Friday night and concluded that such an act is intolerable in a system governed by the rule of law.

The meeting condemned the act of entering a citizen’s home and preparing legal documents inside, calling it insensitive and unlawful.

Additionally, the party decided to seek justice at a higher level against the order issued by the High Court’s Butwal bench in Tulsipur. Prior to his arrest, Lamichhane had already stated that he would knock on every door in search of justice.

The meeting also approved the assignment of Acting President responsibilities to DP Aryal.

After being arrested Friday night, Lamichhane was kept in custody at the District Police Office in Kathmandu and is being flown to Bhairahawa today.
