He was admitted to Frontline Hospital in Baneshwar for treatment earlier in the day. His death was confirmed by his younger brother, Puru Risal, who said he passed away around 7:45 PM.
Since Bhairav Risal had pledged to donate his body, preparations are being made to take his body to the Patan Academy of Health Sciences. His daughter, Sushma Risal, confirmed the plan.
Risal, who was 97 years old, had been active in journalism since the Panchayat era. He worked for many years at the national news agency RSS (Rastriya Samachar Samiti). After retiring, he was involved in environmental journalism and contributed to Radio Sagarmatha.
He had been part of Radio Sagarmatha since its early days. He used to share his views through the “Radio Kurakani” segment and hosted a program called Uhiley Bajeka Palama.
Risal retired from RSS as a chief correspondent.
He had publicly declared that his body should be donated for medical study after his death.
He was also active in the Jayatu Sanskritam movement.
