After nearly nine years away from Bollywood, Fawad Khan is making a grand return with the romantic comedy Abir Gulaal, co-starring Vaani Kapoor. The recently released teaser of the film has created a wave of excitement among fans, who are loving the chemistry between the two stars. Now, actress Sushmita Sen has shared her views on Fawad’s much-anticipated comeback and spoke about the idea of working in Pakistani cinema herself.
At a recent fashion event, while speaking to Instant Bollywood, Sushmita responded to questions about Fawad Khan and other Pakistani actors returning to Bollywood. She admitted she wasn’t fully aware of the developments but emphasized the importance of art transcending boundaries. She said, “All I know is that there are no boundaries in talent and creativity. Nor should there be.”
Sushmita also stressed that fields like sports and the arts thrive on freedom, which fuels creativity. She expressed hope that such a spirit of openness continues to prevail, highlighting her belief that talent should not be limited by borders.
When asked whether she would consider acting in a Pakistani film if given the opportunity, Sushmita said she is always open to good projects, regardless of their origin. For her, a strong script and a meaningful project matter more than geographical boundaries.
Meanwhile, Abir Gulaal continues to create buzz. Set against the beautiful backdrop of London, the teaser offers a glimpse into the heartwarming romance between Fawad and Vaani’s characters. A memorable scene featuring the duo in a car during a rainy evening has particularly won the internet’s heart.
The film also features an ensemble cast, including Lisa Haydon, Ridhi Dogra, Farida Jalal, Soni Razdan, Parmeet Sethi, and Rahul Vora, among others. In addition, a teaser for the movie’s first song, Khudaya Ishq, a soulful love track starring the lead pair, has also been released.
Directed by Aarti S Bagdi and produced by Vivek B. Agrawal, Avantika Hari, and Rakesh Sippy, Abir Gulaal is presented by Indian Stories Limited and A Richer Lens Entertainment, in association with Aarjay Pictures. The film is scheduled for release on May 9, 2025.
