Three people have died and 11 others have been injured in a bus accident in Dhankuta. Among the injured, the condition of two individuals is reported to be critical.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when a bus (registration number Ko 1 Kha 2177), which had departed from Dharan carrying passengers to Bhojpur, veered off the Koshi Highway and plunged approximately 50 meters down at Gothgaun in Dhankuta Municipality–6.
The deceased have been identified as the bus driver, 51-year-old Rudra Tamang of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City–13 in Sunsari; 58-year-old Lilabahadur Shrestha of Bhojpur Municipality–11; and 73-year-old Krishnakumari Rai Bhujel of Dhankuta Municipality–6.
According to police, Rai died at the scene, while Tamang and Shrestha succumbed to their injuries during treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.
