A man tragically lost his life on Sunday during a BASE jumping accident in Washington state. The 47-year-old from Entiat, Washington, was attempting a jump in Chelan County when his parachute failed to fully open.
The accident occurred on Sunday morning in central Washington, where the man was leaping from a cliff. Witnesses reported that after the parachute malfunctioned, he spun uncontrollably and collided with a rock wall. He then fell about 650 feet (200 meters) to the ground, suffering fatal injuries. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that he was pronounced dead at the scene.
BASE jumping, a high-risk activity where participants parachute from fixed objects like cliffs, bridges, or buildings, is known for its danger. This incident adds to the list of tragic accidents, including one last year at Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, where another man died after a failed jump.
