Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Dewanganj, Sunsari.
According to police sources, those arrested are 27-year-old Raveen Kumar Yadav and 21-year-old Pintu Yadav, both from Dewanganj-1. Police have started an investigation into their involvement.
Koshi Province Police Chief DIG Rajan Adhikari confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that the suspects have been identified.
“The shooters have been identified. It looks like a group of five to six people were involved. We are continuing the investigation,” DIG Adhikari told The Ritible.
He also mentioned that the motorcycle and vehicle used during the shooting have been taken under police control.
The incident happened on Monday evening, when 21-year-old Shiv Kumar Mehta and Pintu Mehta from Dewanganj-7 were shot and injured.
They were riding a motorcycle through Dewanganj Bazaar when the shooting occurred.
Shiv Kumar was shot on the right side of his lower back and on the left side of his waist.
According to Sunsari’s Chief Superintendent of Police Suman Timilsina, three people were injured in total during the incident. He said that two were shot, while one was injured after falling down during the chaos.
Dewanganj is located near the Nepal-India border in Sunsari district.
