Two people died in separate incidents in Madi Rural Municipality, Rolpa, on Monday.
In the first incident, an 80-year-old man named Devaraj Gharti died after being hit by a bus near Ghartigaun, along the Sahid Marg road. According to police, the accident happened around 11:30 AM near the Libang turn, on the Ghartigaun–Dui Khola section. The bus was going from Ghorahi to Chunbang in Rukum East. Gharti, a resident of Madi-1 Aul, had just gotten off the bus and was walking home when he was hit.
Police Inspector Dev Singh Bhandari from the Ghartigaun Police Post reached the scene with his team. The police have taken both the bus (plate number Na 2 Kha 2778) and the driver, 32-year-old Prakash Bohora of Runtigadhi-9, into custody. This was confirmed by Rolpa Police Chief DSP Bharat Lama.
In a second incident, a dead body was found near Pedikhola in Madi-1 around 7:15 AM on the same day.
After an investigation by the police team led by Inspector Bhandari, the body was identified as 42-year-old Kharkabahadur Budha Magar, husband of Bamkumari Budha Magar.
Police said that Kharka had tried to catch fish using an electric wire pulled from his house to the nearby stream. At that time, his wife was at her parents’ home, and the children were staying with relatives. He was electrocuted and died on the spot, according to locals.
Police said both bodies have been sent to Rolpa Hospital for post-mortem.
