Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay was spotted at Coimbatore airport on Sunday evening, where a brief moment captured on camera left many puzzled. In the footage, the actor appeared to have been struck while walking through the airport, causing a stir among onlookers. However, fans quickly took to social media to clear up the confusion, posting videos from different angles to show that Vijay had simply slipped, not been attacked.
The incident caught the attention of Thanthi TV, which aired a video suggesting that a “mysterious person” had struck Vijay on the head, creating chaos at the airport. In the clip, Vijay can be seen reacting to something, briefly stumbling before regaining his composure and continuing inside, all while smiling and acknowledging his fans. The video, however, fueled rumors of an assault on the actor.
Vijay’s supporters immediately responded, sharing clearer footage and denouncing the misleading reports. One fan, in a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), wrote, “.@ThanthiTV is spreading false news, turning the leader’s stumble into an attack…!! We condemn such baseless claims.” Others also voiced their disappointment, calling on the media outlet to correct their narrative and stick to the truth. One fan stated, “It’s disappointing to see misinformation about Thalapathy Vijay’s safety being spread. No one attacked him; it was just a slip. @ThanthiTV, please stop spreading lies.”
Amidst the controversy, Vijay’s upcoming work was also highlighted. The actor will soon star in Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, which is set to be his final film. Co-starring Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju, the movie is slated for release during Pongal 2026. Vijay announced during a TVK meeting in February that he intends to retire from acting after this project and focus on politics, dedicating himself to public welfare.
