Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol has warned Mayor Balen Shah not to give orders while staying inside his office.
On Thursday, Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain went to the municipal office to report for duty. However, municipal police tried to stop him. In response, some employees damaged the entrance to his office.
Following the incident, Deputy Mayor Dangol held a meeting with officials. She stated that they were aware of all the events and urged Mayor Shah not to issue commands from his room.
“The ministry has sent him here, and he has come to report for duty,” she said. “It is not good to have such clashes when he arrives. Fights between employees are also not acceptable.”
She emphasized that such conflicts should not exist within the institution and assured that if the Chief Administrative Officer was found guilty, action would be taken against him.
“Do we have to watch this drama? If it’s the mayor’s order, he should come forward. He cannot give instructions from his room,” she said. “First, we will resolve today’s issue, then, we will hold a board meeting. But for now, this problem must be solved.”
