One person has died and two others have been seriously injured after being struck by lightning in Gorkha. The person who died has been identified as 42-year-old Raju Khanal from Bakrang, Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality–1. The injured are 50-year-old Suk Maya Ale and her 18-year-old daughter-in-law Bipana Ale from Palungtar Municipality–7, according to Police Inspector Dhurba Prasad Sharma from the Gorkha District Police Office.
According to him, the lightning strike happened on Sunday night at 8:50 PM while they were sitting inside their house. Inspector Sharma said that Khanal was taken to Gorkha Hospital by a team from Manakamana Area Police Office and local people.
Gorkha District Police Chief Basudev Pathak said that Khanal was unconscious and declared dead by doctors during treatment at Gorkha Hospital at 12:40 AM. His body has been kept in the hospital’s mortuary for post-mortem, Chief Pathak added.
It is reported that the two injured, Suk Maya Ale and her daughter-in-law Bipana Ale, have been sent to Narayani Community Hospital in Chitwan for further treatment.
