Police have arrested Ashish Nepali, a fugitive defendant involved in human trafficking, who was residing in Thamel, Ward 26 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and originally from Champadevi Rural Municipality-1, Okhaldhunga.
According to police, Ashish was involved in trafficking a minor girl on Falgun 11, 2070 B.S. (February 23, 2014), taking her to the Chiring Dance Bar in Khasa, China, and selling her for NPR 18,000. He had been absconding since the incident.
A team from the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau, Babarmahal, apprehended him from Babarmahal.
The police stated that they have obtained a five-day remand from the Kathmandu District Court and are currently conducting further investigations.
